Thank you to all our amazing volunteers who worked today and across the last few weeks to get our Bush Tucker Rainbow Serpent Garden built. Today the Room 14 students installed their Rainbow Serpent path.
Thanks go to Annette, Donna, Garth, Shane, Leigh & Nicola and Declan. Our hard workers installed the pathway, gravel, paving slabs, weed mat and mulch and cooked up a storm on the barbecue for morning tea.
Planting of the bush tucker plants will happen on Thursday.
November 11, 2018 marks the centenary of the end of World War I, known as the Armistice. At Spearwood Primary we learnt about the history of Remembrance Day and the meaning behind the red poppies we wear. In the library we made more than 100 poppies to pin up to mark the 100 years since the Armistice was signed. For a small school like Spearwood this is a big achievement. Lots of classes read the book In Flanders Fields by Norman Jorgensen and thought about the peace that came at the end of four years of brutal war. Room 16 also wrote some beautiful acrostic poems about Remembrance Day which they have put up outside their class.
Thank you everyone who helped bring this project to life. Thank you especially to Room 14 who did an amazing job helping the little Pre-Primaries make theirs!
