National Water Week – Lap-a-thon
‘Water for me, Water for all’
As part of National Water Week celebrations, students at Spearwood Primary School will be taking part in a lap-a-thon on the oval on Wednesday 31st October from 1.45pm – 2.55pm.
This theme encourages young people and the wider community to think about how we use water on a day-to-day basis and how we can protect it so we have it in the future. We sometimes take it for granted that clean water simply pours out of our taps and showers but not everyone in the world has this luxury. The UN’s Sustainable Development Goal #6 challenges us to work towards a world where everyone will have access to safe and clean water.
Funds raised will be donated to a Water Charity.
Although we are asking your family and friends to sponsor you, we do not encourage door to door knocking as a way of gaining sponsorship, as the safety of our students is of the utmost importance. Parents are welcome to join in and walk or jog with their children.
Please complete the sponsorship sheet during the holidays and leading up to the event.
All students will receive an icy-pole at the conclusion of the lap-a-thon. There will also be prizes for the top three fundraising students.
