During Week 6, Spearwood Primary School celebrated Book Week in style!
Through the week all the classes did different book-related activities. From writing book reviews to treasure hunts, racing around the school to eventually discover that the real treasure they were looking for was the library!
On Tuesday and Wednesday a second-hand book sale was held, selling old library books. Some of them were in really good condition and at 50c each, a lot of students walked away with armfuls of bargain buys! The money raised will go towards new library books for the school.
The best part of the week was the Book Character Parade. Almost all our students dressed up and a lot of parents cheered from the side lines. Mrs Day-Davies and Mr Ryder had a good look at all the costumes and chose their favourites from each class based on the effort they put into their costume and the creativity they showed when choosing their character. The winners were:
Room 16: Aeden (a Goosebumps book) / Jellaine (Stephen King’s IT)
Room 14: Samantha (Are You My Bottom?) / Lily (The Secret Unicorn)
Room 8: Fiona (Doctor Who’s Tardia) / Cassie (Operation Ouch)
Room 6: Kelly? (Willy Wonka) / (Dinosaur Roar!)
EC2: Lola (Luigi) / Grantley (Ninja Turtles)
Kindy: Jaxson and Ryder (Mr Happy and Mr Strong)
There were some pretty amazing costumes from the teachers as well. There were lots of Wally’s, a Magic Schoolbus, Professor Poopypants and even Emily Eyefinger made an appearance!
Thank you everyone for going to so much effort this week. From all the staff at Spearwood Primary, have a happy Book Week and keep on reading!
