A visit from Norman Jorgensen

A visit from Norman Jorgensen

On Tuesday the 22nd of May, award-winning author Norman Jorgensen visited Spearwood Primary School to talk to our students about his books and what it is like to be a children’s author.

Students in Pre-Primary to Year 3 were entertained with Mr Jorgensen reading his books The Last Viking and The Last Viking Returns and lots of stories about the mischief he got up to as a kid. Students in Years 4 to 6 have been reading Jack’s Island so Mr Jorgensen showed them photos of Rottenest Island during World War II and told the classes about the real Jack that inspired the book. He also showed us the gold medal he received when he won Best Picture Book for In Flanders Fields in 2003.

Mr Jorgensen was very entertaining and has inspired many of us to tell stories and work on our creative writing.
