Chevron Playground Excursion

Chevron Playground Excursion

Last Friday the Year 6 students from room 14 attended an excursion to Chevron Park near Optus Stadium. The intention of the excursion was to allow the students to learn about the six Nyoongar seasons and see the plants that grow and immerse themselves in the environment. As part of their Legacy Project, the year 6’s will be assisting in creating displays and allocating a Nyoongar season to each of our teaching and learning blocks. The students were able to read information about each season and then interact with the playground equipment, logs and plants. It was great to see how inventive all the students were when building with logs and stones. Some of the challenges were to count the djidi, djidi’s, find the tortoises and locate all of the emu eggs. A big thank you goes to Ms Derbyshire and Mrs Griffiths for organising the event and to our wonderful P & C for paying for the bus. We would also like to thank Ms Julie, Mrs Annette Patterson and Mrs Griffiths for attending on the day. It was a fabulous excursion and we all had a great time.
