Clean Up Schools

Clean Up Schools

On Friday 3 March, the students participated in School’s Clean Up Day. The Pre- Primary students spent time looking for rubbish in their area. The area was already very clean, but the students found lots of little pieces of plastic. They were very happy to have saved them from washing into the drains and then out to the ocean, preventing fish, birds and turtles from eating them.

After lunch, the remainder of the students, where given areas of the school to clean. The Clean Up Australia organisation provided us with gloves and disposable bags for collection. Afterwards, Mrs Dowding’s class sorted the rubbish. They found lots of plastic- lots of plastic bags, paper- some food containers- chunks of shade cloth and carpet.  A few cans and some drink bottles. It was pleasing to note that no cigarette butts were found. Thank you to all students for participating and well done for being so kind to our beautiful school environment.
