Author Visit – Emily Norman

On Wednesday 15 November, children’s author Emily Norman visited our school to talk about her debut picture book ‘Lily Longnose finds a home‘, accompanied by the famous Miss Lily herself!  The students learnt about the writing process and the path towards authorship, as well as dog care and safety with a focus on recognising a dog’s emotions through body language.  They were treated to a sideshow of Lily’s many fashionable outfits that Emily had made and a discussion about why Emily loves sewing and crafting as a means of self-expression.  Older students learnt about how natural adaptions allow greyhounds to run so fast, as well as why this affects their ability to stay warm.  The junior group talked about how we can be safe when we pat a dog.

Emily said she was impressed by the behaviour of the students during session and the thoughtful questions asked.  Our students should be very proud of their conduct.  In addition, $68.00 was raised for Greyhound Adoptions WA through student donations.
