This terms Science lessons are based on Earth and Space Science. For the Pre-Primary this meant looking at the weather and how it affects us. Years 1 and 2 learnt about Earth’s Treasures including water, air, rocks and minerals and plants. Years 3 and 4 looked at how our Earth is changing slowly over time. Our experiment looked at the movement of converging tectonic plates and how the movement creates mountains, valleys and caves. We did it in a few minutes, but in real lifetime it is happening very very slowly.
We also had the opportunity to explore a huge range of rocks, gems, sand, minerals, shells, coral – all Earth’s treasures.
The shell collection kept us busy trying to look at the many different shapes, sizes, colours and even some big enough to hear the sea! There was also a collection of corals to look at.
We studied a box of test tubes that contained many different coloured sands, from black to snowy white, glass beads, dried clay and very black bitumen.
