Welcome to Spearwood Primary School, our motto ‘Key to the Future’ encompasses our strong culture focused on high expectations and developing the next generation of responsible members of society. We foster a positive environment where emphasis is placed upon a strong sense of belonging, Australian Values and success for everyone.
In 2017, Spearwood Primary School proudly became an Independent Public School. Our school community has embraced this opportunity to grow and develop with the new autonomy offered. The school has a highly effective School Board and a very successful Parents’ and Citizens’ organisation (P & C). In 2020 – 2022 we are in our second three year business plan.
The school prioritises quality teaching in a high care environment. Our dedicated team of staff use evidence based whole school approaches to achieve the best possible educational outcomes in Literacy and Numeracy. Our students consistently maintain academic standards that are above or equivalent to ‘like schools’ as tested by National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) testing each year.
Digital Technologies is a priority which is well-resourced throughout the school on both the computer and tablet platforms to support students to live and work successfully in the 21st century. To promote balance between a healthy mind and body, we have a Physical Education specialist program. We also have a specialist Italian program.
We continue to achieve excellent results as we embed the school business plan’s focus of:
- High expectations within a safe learning environment developing healthy and resilient learners.
- High quality teaching utilising contemporary curriculum and assessment.
- Effective Leadership.
- Strong governance, partnerships and collaboration.
