Principal’s Message
Welcome to Spearwood Primary School, our motto ‘Key to the Future’ encompasses our strong culture and school vision focused on high expectations and developing the next generation of responsible members of society. We foster a positive environment where emphasis is placed upon a strong sense of belonging and success for everyone.
The school prioritises quality teaching in a high care environment. Our dedicated team of staff use evidence based, whole school approaches to achieve the best possible educational outcomes in all areas. We maintain a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy. Our students consistently achieve academic standards that are above ‘like schools’ as tested by National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) testing each year.
Digital Technologies is a priority which is well-resourced throughout the school on both the computer and tablet platforms to support students to live and work successfully in the 21st century. To promote balance between a healthy mind and body, we have an exceptional and varied Physical Education specialist program. Our specialist Italian program is highly regarded and valued in the community.
We continue to achieve excellent results as we embed the 2023 – 2025 school business plan’s focus of:
- High Expectations for Student Achievement,
- High Quality Teaching utilising explicit instruction and other evidence-based pedagogy, curriculum, and resources,
- Effective Leadership and Governance,
- Strong Relationships, partnerships with staff, students, parents, families and the wider community,
- Safe, Supportive, Learning Environment catering for diversity of cultures represented within the school,
- Robust protocols direct Resources to enhance student outcomes.
In 2017, Spearwood Primary School proudly became an Independent Public School. Our school community has embraced this opportunity to grow and develop with the new autonomy offered. The school has a highly effective School Board and a very successful Parents’ and Citizens’ organisation (P & C). In 2023 – 2025 we are in our third independent school business plan.
